How we do it — our concreting process

Commercial and industrial floors are unforgiving — they have to be flat, hard-wearing and delivered to tight tolerances, usually on a schedule that the rest of the build depends on. Large shed and warehouse floors have been our specialty for over two decades, and our process is geared to managing volume pours without compromising quality.

  1. Scope and program. We work with you, your builder and your engineer to scope the slab and fit our pour into the construction program.
  2. Base and preparation. Sub-base preparation, compaction and set-out to the required floor levels and tolerances.
  3. Reinforcement. Mesh, bar or post-tensioning as engineered, placed correctly for the loads and the use.
  4. Volume pour. We bring the crew and gear to place large pours efficiently, with the right mix supply and logistics planned in advance.
  5. Finishing and joints. Power-floating and trowelling to a flat, durable finish, with saw-cut joints laid out to control cracking.
  6. Cure. Proper curing so the floor reaches the strength and durability it is rated for.

Workmanship and standards

For commercial work, flatness and durability are the whole game. We pour super-flat and tight-tolerance floors suited to racking, machinery and high traffic, with joint layouts planned to suit how the space will actually be used. We build to the engineering and the relevant standards, and we coordinate closely with the builder so the slab is ready when the program needs it. Whether it is a warehouse, factory, workshop or a large rural shed, the priority is a floor that performs hard for decades.

Logistics make or break a big pour

A large commercial slab is as much a logistics exercise as a concreting one. The mix has to arrive in a steady, reliable sequence; the crew has to be sized to place and finish it within the working window; and access, pumping and finishing equipment all have to be planned before the day. Get any of that wrong and you risk cold joints, uneven finish or a slab that does not meet tolerance. We plan the whole operation up front and bring the right crew and gear so the pour runs smoothly from the first load to the last.

What we pour

Our commercial and industrial work includes large shed and warehouse floors, super-flat floors, factory and workshop slabs, commercial driveways and hardstands, loading areas and industrial sheds across regional South Australia. We also handle the groundwork through our earthmoving and site preparation service, and pour heavy-duty rural and agricultural floors.

Caring for a commercial floor

A well-built commercial floor is largely maintenance-free, but a few habits extend its life. Keeping saw-cut joints clean and, where appropriate, filled protects the joint edges from heavy traffic; dealing with spills reasonably promptly avoids staining; and sealing or hardening the surface where the use calls for it improves abrasion resistance. The single biggest factor in how a commercial floor performs over its life, though, is how well it was built in the first place — the base, the reinforcement, the flatness and the curing — which is exactly where our experience pays off.

Why choose us for commercial work

Big pours are not the place for a crew learning on the job. With 25 years and a long track record of large shed and warehouse floors across the region, we have the experience, the standards and the planning discipline these projects demand. Tell us the location, the size and the use, and we will scope it, program it and quote it. Get in touch to discuss your project.
